Wander the streets of a flower-filled village
Autretot is one of the first villages in France, and one of the first in Europe, to obtain the four flowers of the Villes et Villages Fleuris award.
The village began to ‘bloom’ in 1975 thanks to two enthusiastic volunteers. Working from 6am until late at night, it took them over a month to plant the flowers in the main street. Today, the flowers of Autretot have become a well-established tradition.
Over the last weekend in May each year, around sixty volunteers meet to plant nearly 20,000 flowers of 60 different species, colours and scents that brighten up this Cauchois village.
The Floral Village trail (trail n°13 – 10 km, medium difficulty) takes you through the heart of the village via lanes steeped in history such as the allée du Temple and the allée des Tisserands (Weavers’ Alley).

“Take a stroll in the summer through this village which has preserved its typical Cauchois architecture, with its planted flowerbeds surrounded by beech trees. The colourful flowering bushes that surround this heritage site make it a delightful visit!”.
